Recently, Google made available the Email Delegation feature to Gmail users, making it possible to grant access to your Gmail account to others (maybe your personal assistant or whatever) but without letting them alter your settings or have a peek at your password. If enabled, the person with the access can read your mails and respond on your behalf. This might come in handy if you have a delegate to look after things for you. Here is how you do it.
Open a Gmail account if you don't already have one. This feature is available only in Gmail.

Navigate to the Gmail settings option found at the top right corner of the page.
Under the Accounts and Imports tab, you should notice a new section which says "Grant access to your account".
Input the user's email you want to add and wait till they confirm the verification request.
Refresh your browser and let your delegate handle the rest.
The small down arrow which you find at the top right corner besides
your email identification can be used to toggle between the two
accounts.
- When an email is sent on your behalf by the delegate, the email message will make this clear in the sender lines.

Your delegate will only be able to read and compose replies to your emails. The delegate cannot chat on your behalf, change your password (or see it), or modify most of your account settings.
